Miss Maggie
It is now Sept. 22, 2006 and Miss Maggie is doing really good now. Though - she still gets tired easily, and is still taking her heart medications..........but they seem to make her feel better, so Dr. Ben thinks she needs to stay on them. He says she is sort of like my Mom, who is also a heart patient. But thats ok, he just loves Maggie too so............. :) He is so good with her. AND as long as she takes her meds, she is fine !!!
She loves to go out and meet people!!! I always tell everyone - she is from Ill Bird Dog Rescue - and that they should go to a rescue, to adopt. Will try to get some pictures of her, and send soon. I can't believe how far, we have come - Maggie is such an incredible buddy. We were meant to be together !!! She is absolutely beautiful now, her feathers are so pretty, her hair is so soft, curly and silky. And she smiles a lot now...........life is good. Miracles do happen, Miss Maggie is truly "a walking miracle" and I adore her!!!

new meds
It has been now three weeks, last Thur. since Maggies second heart worm treatment. Today is Tues. May 30th. At the end of last wk, Dr. Ben decided Maggie needed to be on some heart meds, maybe not forever, but for a while. She is taking her meds very well, and seems to know - it is all, something to help make her feel better. Maggie is always willing to do whatever I ask, and then sit down to read or just be held. Maggie is such a JOY to live with, I can't tell you how much I enjoy her company now. She loves to snuggle and she is always polite and quiet. We have 3 more wks, to stay very quiet, and then maybe she will feel a bit better and can do a little more. Till next time. Maggie is smiling a lot now, and LOVE her new chewies!!!!! Especially the basted ones!!!!
Till Next Time,

Feeling a little better :)
Maggie is starting to feel a bit better. I know it has only been 2 wks this Thur. and she still must be very quiet - till after the 6 wk window, but it is nice, to see her wag her tail & chatter a little more!!! She is eating well, and is very happy to see me when I get home. I just ask that everyone keep her in their prayers - as she still has this 5 wk window to get through - before I will breath a bit easier!!!!!!!! But each passing day, gets up closer to that mark, and I am grateful. Very grateful.

The 2nd Treatment - finally ;)
Hello again, I just wanted to let everyone know - Maggie got her 2nd heartworm treatment last Thursday morning. 5/4/06. As Maggies new mom, I will admit - I was scared beyond words, but I have complete faith in my vets - the three of them are AWESOME!!! Dr. Ken, turned Maggie over to Dr. Ben - as Dr. Sarah and Dr. Ben have a newer clinic, with a lot more equipment to deal with serious problems. Dr. Ken has been my vet for over 30 yrs, and he is excellant, but he will be honest and tell me, when he feels he does not have the equipment or the background to deal with a more serious case. And Maggie was a very serious case, as she did not deal well with the 1st heartworm treatment she had before she came to me.

My vets decided to do an EKG on Maggie, before the 2nd heart worm treatment - and confer with some doggie heart specialists in Texas - to get some answers to some very serious questions they had, and to know IF it was safe to go on with the 2nd treatment or not. The EKG turned out ok, so she went in for the 2ne treatment Thur...... she seems to be doing fine. Somehow, I think, that she is ALSO in general - better health this time........and that is helping too. But we are still "not out of the woods yet".............so please keep Maggie Mae in your thoughts and prayers - till we get out of this "definate 6 week window." Thanks to all of you, for listening and caring. It means more than I can tell you!!!! I will keep you posted, as to her progress. Hope you all have a great week!!!!
Hugs,
Sharman & Maggie Mae :) :P)

Shhh,.. An Angel Is Resting!
Hello again, I am Maggie's new Mom. I am not a computer guru, which you all can laugh about now, it's ok. lol I tried this earlier, but I don't think I did it right,....... so here goes, I am going to try this again!!! LOL :)
I want to Thank Susan for inviting me to do a Blog on Miss Maggie!!! I think it must have been "Love @ First Sight" - because when I saw Maggie for the first time........she stole my heart!!!!
Anyway, first of all I want to THANK Lisa, Natalie (and all the others who helped get Maggie to me several weeks ago!!! Next I want to again, thank Susan - for letting me have this space to keep everyone updated about Miss Maggie (Susan mentions something about me being her gaurdian angel..............if you want the truth here guys..........It is MAGGIE that is the ANGEL in this story!!! :P) lol I believe, deep in my heart - Maggie is an Angel - that was sent to me from heaven!!!!! And I fall more and more "in love with her" with each passing day!!!!!)

I have switched Maggie Mae to SOLID GOLD dog food, and she really likes it. I got info on it from IBR and was impressed with their research. I am also going to put her on the Solid Gold SeaMeal sometime this wk too - as the more I read about it,..... it states that it works together very well with the Solid Gold dog food - to reduce the incidence of coronary heart disease. Hum, well.......anything to help Maggie.........I will try it. :) Maggie is getting stronger and feeling a bit better - so she is to go for her 2nd heart worm treatment - Thur. morning of this wk. Dr. Ben wants to keep her in the clinic for a couple of days - so he can watch her in case she has any problems - (because I was told she had such a difficult time, the first time. We are just being cautious....but Maggie is stronger now, than when she had the first treatment......so we are hoping, she won't react so much, this second time.) Though I know, Maggie will still have to have to stay very quiet (which as I said before, she is such a good patient anyway). We will take lots of naps with her pillows and blankies - and we will be reading a lot and asking that you all keep Maggie in your prayers as she recouperates this next 6 wks. Till next time.........
God Bless,
Maggie Mae :P) & Me ;)

Maggie's Guardian Angel Hears Her Cry for Help

To think that on a given afternoon Maggie was "taken to the curb", like the rest of the garbage that her previous owner set out, as she proceeded to clean out the back yard including Maggie!
Maggie came into rescue filthy dirty, her ears were full of gunk, and her skin was irritated beyond belief, her tail remained tucked tight between her back legs,....I am sure she was scared to death wondering what the future could possibly hold for her,....could there be anything worse that being isolated from human contact? Something that English Setters crave so much?
Thank goodness Maggie didn't have to find out, instead Maggie's guardian angel was called to the rescue, and luckily, with a littlle help from IBR, her Angel was there to hear Maggie's call,......
